Different Types of MWR Air Filters

MWR have a wide range of air filters available for most road going motorcycles. Four different styles of MWR air filter are manufactured, and these are discussed in detail following;

HIGH EFFICENCY:

The High Efficiency air filter for road & race bikes, designed for inlet noise reduction. The revolutionary MWR High Efficiency air filter is designed to reduce intake noise and yet deliver more power. This design of air filter has shown a reduction of up to 8db of intake noise compared to other sports filters.

Unlike all other sports filter all inlets will get the same quantity of air, regardless the speed of the motorcycle or wind direction . No different fuel-mappings between internal & external or front & rear cylinders are needed, this will be achieved by tuning each cylinder separately.

Caution: clean and re-oil at least once a year with MWR air filter oil & cleaner.

Remapping the ECU or the Fuel Control Module is highly recommended.

PERFORMANCE:

The MWR performance air filter offers excellent performance and maximum protection for your engine. These filters are not a copy of the standard filter. Rather, they have been designed from the ground up to provide the greatest possible performance without sacrificing engine protection.

The performance range of MWR air filters are aimed at riders seeking additional performance rather than the added benefit of inlet noise reduction which is offered by the high efficiency model.

Caution: clean and re-oil at least once a year with MWR air filter oil & cleaner.

Remapping the ECU or the Fuel Control Module is recommended.

FULL RACE:

The Full Race air filter has been developed on the track, NOT on a dyno but in real life. Development of this range of filters used bikes with data loggers and recorded many hours of information to allow us to design and build the ultimate in performance air filters. We used new materials and developed new designs. Protection is on the same level as the high efficiency and performance ranges, however, only for a shorter time and additional maintenance is required.

Unlike any other sports filter all inlets will get with this Full Race air filter the same quantity of air, regardless the speed of the motorcycle, wind direction or the turbulence of the fairing. No different fuel-mappings between internal & external or front & rear cylinders are needed, this will be achieved by tuning each cylinder separately. It makes the bike stronger but smoother, therefore it saves tires and fuel.

Caution : The Full Race air filter is designed specifically for racers. This filter protects your engine at 100%, but for a shortened period of time. Check your filter after each race weekend, use only MWR filter oil & cleaner. Make sure you start each race weekend with a well oiled filter.

This airfilter is not developed to reduce the inlet noise. Remapping the ECU or the Fuel Control Module is highly recommended.

WSBK CUSTOM:

With the co-operation of Kawasaki WSBK Racing Team, BMW, MV Agusta and MotoGP teams MWR developed a new style and very exclusive customized air filter that increases the filter surface area enormously. The shape of the filter is "adapted" to the airbox to make it as big as possible, one of the reasons why we can't make the WSBK filter for every bike . We are able to increase the filter surface from 50 - 100%, depending on the type of bike.

More & bigger surface means less restriction, a better protection and the performance increase is huge.

All WSBK filters are hand cut and hand glued for the ultimate in fit and performance.

These new style WSBK filters are built with two different kinds of foam materials. One part is foam material used for our road bikes, the rest is the foam material for the full race filters. The road material is placed on a conscious place to create the same effect as the splitter plate on our “HE” & “R” filters.

Remapping the ECU or installation of a fuel module is necessary.

For the fuelling you need to approach the same way as with our "HE" & "R" air filters. This means tune each cylinder separately and tune the secondary injectors separately from the main injectors.
